Barringwood vineyard is located on a steep north facing slope over looking the Don Valley in Tasmania’s North West. Established in 1993 the vineyard rises to an elevation of 280m and has a long mild growing season perfectly suited to growing flavoursome aromatic wine with a great minerality and acid balance.
The grapes used to craft Barringwood Pinot Gris were harvested at full ripeness to attain rich flavours and a full-bodied mouthfeel. The resulting wine presents a bright, clear to pale straw colour with tinges of green. A swirl of the glass reveals aromas of melon and green apple, with hints of tropical. The palate is fresh and lively, with crunchy pear and lemon flavours complimented by floral and peach notes. The cool climate acidity and minerality provide this wine elegance as well as length. This Pinot Gris wine tastes good when served young and fresh. It matches well with white-flesh fish, pork belly, and fresh curd goat cheese.
