Balvenie 40 Year Old Rare Marriages Single Malt Scotch Whisky 700ml
The Balvenie distillery is a Speyside single malt Scotch whisky distillery in Dufftown, Scotland, owned by William Grant & Sons. In 1892 work began to convert an 18th-century mansion (Balvenie New House) into a distillery. The building took fifteen months to complete, and on the 1st of May 1893, the first distillation took place at the Balvenie Distillery. The Balvenie Cask Finishes is a unique range of single malts created by David C. Stewart MBE, The Balvenie Malt Master. Cask Finishes gains its distinctive character from maturation in two distinct cask types in succession, a proprietary process pioneered by David in 1983 with The Balvenie Classic.
Using some of the rarest casks that have been carefully matured in Traditional American and European Oak in The Balvenie warehouses, Malt Master David C. Stewart MBE creates to craft a bold marriage of extraordinary character.
The Balvenie 40-year-old Rare Marriages is the crown jewel in Balvenie's Rare Marriages series, which kicked off in 2021 with the first releases of the series. This particular release of Balvenie 40-year-old Rare Marriages yielding just 150 bottles when released in 2022 at 46%. is once again the product of Master Blender David Stewart's peerless skill and artistry in the tun room, with a magic combination of some of the distillery's oldest and rarest traditional American and European oak casks.
The nose is rich and elegant with apricot, ginger snap and citrus notes, leading to vanilla, ginger spice and warm oak. The palate is rich and refined with intense honeyed oak and rich dried fruits creating a complex layer of sweetness and spice, then warming notes of ginger and citrus are revealed within the rich warm sherried finish.
