A singular Tasmanian Chardonnay shaped by site and hand. Apsley Gorge Vineyard, on Tasmania’s east coast near Bicheno, benefits from a cool maritime climate and afternoon sea breezes that extend ripening and preserve natural acidity. Established by Brian Franklin in the early 1990s, the vineyard is dry-grown and low-yielding, with a Burgundian influence guiding the winemaking.
The 2024 vintage is one of the smallest to date, with only around four barrels produced. It was a warm, generous season that delivered fruit of concentration and balance. Fermented with wild yeasts and handled with minimal intervention, the wine combines richness and vibrancy with the clarity of Tasmania’s cool-climate expression.
