The Vietti family has been producing wine in Castiglione Falletto in the heart of Le Langhe in Piedmont for five generations, with 33 estate vineyards located across all 11 communes designated for the cultivation and production of Barolo, plus Roero for Arneis and Agliano Asti for Barbera and Moscato.

The Barolo ‘Castiglione’ is Vietti's interpretation of a classic Barolo. The grapes for producing this wine are sourced from various very important small vineyards located all over the Barolo region. Geology: calcareous and clayey soil. The age of the grapevines is between 10 and 45 years old; they are trained in the Guyot trellis system, with an average density of about 4,500 plants per hectare.

Medium ruby with faint brick and purple reflections; the bouquet is very savoury with clean leather and fresh-turned earth aromas, dried flowers and dried herbs, remarkably complex and deep. The wine is full-bodied and rich on the palate with intense savoury flavours and ample but smooth tannins that are in excellent harmony. Full finish and impressive length. A superb and quite powerful wine that over-delivers as an entry-level Barolo. There is an extra degree of richeness rare in Barolo at this level. Great value. - Huon Hooke, The Real Review, 30 September, 2022, 96 Points
