A Refined Expression of Puligny-Montrachet's Terroir - The Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru Les Folatières 2022 from Domaine Dujac is an exceptional example of the elegance and complexity that can be derived from this prestigious vineyard. Located on the westward slope of Puligny-Montrachet, Les Folatières benefits from a southeast-facing orientation and an average gradient of 10%, allowing the vines to receive optimal sunlight. The terroir here is one of the key elements that shape the wine’s character, with its rich brown-red soils, abundant white limestone rocks, and a sub-soil made up of compact limestone, often referred to as “Pierre de Chassagne” or “Stone of Chassagne.”

This unique soil composition, coupled with the gentle slopes and ideal altitude between 250 and 272 meters, contributes to the freshness and mineral-driven nature of the wine. Domaine Dujac’s commitment to organic viticulture and minimal intervention ensures that the true expression of this remarkable vineyard shines through in the glass.

The 2022 Les Folatières is an elegant and refined wine, showcasing the purity of Domaine Dujac’s winemaking philosophy and the exceptional terroir of Puligny-Montrachet. Whether enjoyed now or cellared for the future, this wine promises to be a true expression of Burgundy’s finest.

      Trusted by the professionals

From Peux Bois and Folatières proper. A ripe, expressive and attractively layered nose freely offers up its array of acacia blossom, spiced pear and lemon confit. The sleek and delicious middleweight flavors flash evident minerality on the very dry, lingering and youthfully austere finale. I suspect that the proposed fining should help with the precision. Outstanding, Drink: 2029+

      — - Allen Meadows, Burghound, 90-93 Points.

10 to 25 year old vines. Pale primrose in colour. Attractively floral with a light reduction on the nose to keep it all tight. The fruit is ripe with some plums, yet tightly wound even with some slight tannins. Drink: 2028-2035

      — - Jasper Morris, Inside Burgundy, 91-94 Points.

Aromas of pear, crushed mint, white flowers, hazelnuts and bread dough introduce Dujac's 2022 Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru Les Folatières, a medium to full-bodied, satiny and rich white that's thick and layered, with good depth at the core and an anise-inflected finish.

      — - William Kelley, The Wine Advocate, 90-92 Points.

The 2022 Puligny-Montrachet Les Folatières 1er Cru has quite a generous bouquet with mainly yellow fruit and a touch of lemon verbena, focused with hints of lime developing in the glass. The palate is well-balanced, with a twist of sour lemon on the entry. There’s fine weight, cohesive, maybe requiring a little more nerve towards the finish. However, there is certainly brightness here, and I feel it will gain more energy by the time of bottling. On par with the previous vintage. Drink: 2026-2038

      — - Neal Martin, Vinous, 90-92 Points.

      Domaine Dujac

Domaine Dujac, founded in 1968 by Jacques Seysses, is a beacon of excellence in Burgundy winemaking. Situated in the heart of Morey-Saint-Denis, the estate has grown from humble beginnings to become one of the most respected producers in the region. Today, Domaine Dujac remains a family business, with Jacques’ son Jeremy and his wife Diana taking the reins, ensuring the estate’s legacy continues with the same dedication to quality. The winery is known for its commitment to biodynamic practices and minimal intervention winemaking, allowing the pure expression of the terroir to shine through in every bottle.

      Tasting notes

      NOSE
      Fresh Citrus, White Flowers, Honeycomb

With subtle notes of toasted almonds and delicate spice. The minerality from the limestone soils is immediately apparent, adding a layer of freshness and depth to the aromatic profile.

      PALATE
      Refined and Complex

Full-bodied and well-structured. Flavours of ripe pear, lemon zest, and white peach are complemented by a creamy texture and an underlying mineral core. The mouthfeel is round yet precise, with a finely integrated acidity that gives the wine an energetic lift.

      FINISH
      Long and Lingering

The finish is long and refined, with a touch of flinty minerality that leaves a lasting impression. The balance between richness and freshness is perfect, offering a wine that is both approachable in its youth and capable of evolving beautifully over the next decade or more.
