Monumental elegance and masterful craftsmanship define the Josephinenhütte Josephine No. 8 Magnum Decanter. Conceived by renowned sixth-generation glass designer Kurt Josef Zalto, the Josephine No. 8 was created specifically for large-format bottles and fine wine service where both performance and presentation are equally important. Mouth-blown and individually handcrafted in Europe from lead-free crystal, the decanter reflects Josephinenhütte’s philosophy of combining artisanal precision with functional wine enhancement. Its dramatic sculptural silhouette features flowing asymmetrical contours that encourage controlled aeration while showcasing wine with striking visual elegance.
The expansive lower chamber provides substantial surface area for oxygen contact, allowing young and structured wines to gradually unfold while preserving the balance and nuance of more mature vintages. Designed with magnum-format bottles in mind, the No. 8 offers generous capacity without sacrificing handling precision or aesthetic refinement. The elongated neck and carefully balanced proportions allow for smooth, controlled pouring despite the decanter’s substantial size. Like the broader Josephinenhütte collection, the No. 8 emphasises lightness and delicacy, with ultra-thin crystal walls that create a refined and almost weightless tactile experience. Sommeliers and collectors admire the piece not only for its decanting performance but also for its sculptural presence at the table, making it equally suited for formal entertaining and professional wine service. The Josephine No. 8 Magnum Decanter represents contemporary European glassmaking at its most artistic and technically sophisticated, bringing together beauty, utility and sensory enhancement in a single handcrafted object.
Material – Mouth-Blown Lead-Free Crystal
Designer – Kurt Josef Zalto
Capacity – Approximately 2.5L
Recommended Use – Magnum Bottles, Red Wine and Fine Wine Service

Josephinenhütte was born from a simple conviction: that the glass you drink from changes everything.
Revived in 2019 by three friends who shared a deep appreciation for traditional craftsmanship, the brand takes its name from a legendary Silesian glassworks founded in 1842, once among the most significant glass manufacturers in Europe and the New World. Almost two centuries later, that spirit of innovation has been reborn.
The creative mind behind every piece is Kurt Josef Zalto, a glass designer in the sixth generation. For decades he studied the influence of shape and material on the flavour of wine, driven by a single vision: to create the finest sensory wine glass possible. The result is the Josephine Collection, his masterpiece.
Every glass is mouth-blown by skilled artisans in a European glass hut, shaped through numerous stages requiring extraordinary precision and concentration. The stem is drawn by hand with pliers, the base formed with specialised scissors in a single rotational movement. No two pieces are identical. Each one is a sculpture.
Most glasses frame the wine. The Josephine Collection unlocks it.
The defining feature of every Josephinenhütte glass is the kink, a characteristic curve in the bowl that allows aromas to evolve rapidly and intensely, channelling each wine toward its fullest expression. The glass is so fine and thin-walled it almost disappears in your hand, leaving only the wine.
This is design that follows sensory function, not aesthetics for their own sake. Each glass in the collection is engineered for a specific style of wine, calibrated to how it should be experienced on the palate, its freshness, its structure, its aromatic complexity. The Josephine N° 2 Universal will work beautifully across your cellar. But if you love Champagne, the N° 4 will change how you drink it.
Chosen by some of the world's finest restaurants, including three Michelin-starred venues and restaurants ranked in the World's 50 Best, Josephinenhütte represents the standard that the most discerning sommeliers reach for.
For those who take pleasure seriously.
