A Masterful Expression of Burgundy's Grandeur - Located between the renowned villages of Morey-Saint-Denis and Chambolle-Musigny, Bonnes Mares is one of the most iconic Grand Cru vineyards in Burgundy. The steep, 11% gradient of the plot ensures low yields and exceptional concentration, while its east-facing aspect allows for the slow ripening of the grapes, imparting the wine with both power and finesse.

Bonnes Mares, with its complex terroir, is a true reflection of the unique soils and subsoil found in this highly prized vineyard. The eastern portion of the vineyard features reddish-brown soils rich in crinoidal limestone (calcaire à Entroques), while the western section contains marls rich in oyster shell fragments, imparting a unique minerality to the wines. The resulting wine is a grand cru of exceptional depth, elegance, and complexity.

Domaine Dujac’s Bonnes Mares Grand Cru 2022 is a true masterpiece, showcasing the vineyard’s exceptional terroir and the winery’s commitment to producing wines of the highest order. With its complex aromas, rich fruit, and remarkable structure, this wine is a must-have for collectors and connoisseurs alike.

From a .59 ha holding. This is also markedly floral in character with an equally broad range of spice elements to the softly earthy red and dark berry fruit, exotic tea, rose petal, violet and lavender-suffused aromas. The fleshy yet precise and highly energetic medium weight flavors are more concentrated than those of the Clos de la Roche though I still wouldn't describe them as super-dense, all wrapped in a hugely long, balanced and moderately austere finale. Much like the Clos St. Denis, this is also exceptionally stylish and classy and should age for several decades on the perfect balance. Drink: 2034+

      — - Allen Meadows, Burghound, 92-94 Points.

Jeremy estimates that their Bonnes Mares is now 55% on the red/brown soil and 45% on white. Medium to deep purple. One of the ripest on the nose, with raspberries and cherries as full and flavoursome as they can be before becoming cooked. The wilder savoury character is certainly there, and in fact everything comes together. Really requires long term patience, thinks Jeremy. The tannins give structure which the fruit benefits from. In the end, not too ripe. Drink: 2032-2040

      — - Jasper Morris, Inside Burgundy, 95-98 Points.

The 2022 Bonnes-Mares Grand Cru is brilliant, unwinding in the glass with notes of raspberries, cherries, blood orange, exotic spices, vine smoke and rose petals. Full-bodied, seamless and concentrated, with a deep and multidimensional core, sweet tannins and lively acids, it concludes with a long, mineral finish.

      — - William Kelley, The Wine Advocate, 95-97 Points.

The 2023 Bonnes-Mares Grand Cru has a complex bouquet with a mixture of red and black fruit, Morello cherries and blackcurrant, later joined with subtle blueberry scents. It's finely delineated, quite open and intense as Bonnes-Mares should be. The palate has a touch of dark chocolate on the entry. It's quite fleshy, but there is real structure underneath. There are touches of black pepper toward the finish. Excellent. Drink: 2028-2052

      — - Neal Martin, Vinous, 95-97 Points.

Deeply-coloured and richly fruity, this was tasted last in the lineup, and it is easy to see why. The wine boasts a spectacularly forward fruit, supple, silky texture, and enough density to age for decades. There is enough acidity to balance and enough tannin to sustain the wine over the long haul. Still, there is another dimension of complexity and depth here that is seductive indeed. The grapes come from just over a half-hectare in two blocks, the larger one in the centre of the climate and the smaller one in the south. Drink: 2028-2055.

      — - Charles Curtis MW, Decanter, 97 Points.

      Domaine Dujac

Domaine Dujac, founded in 1968 by Jacques Seysses, is a beacon of excellence in Burgundy winemaking. Situated in the heart of Morey-Saint-Denis, the estate has grown from humble beginnings to become one of the most respected producers in the region. Jacques, inspired by his father’s love for fine wines and his own experiences with Burgundy’s great winemakers, embarked on a journey to craft wines that would reflect the unique terroirs of the Côte de Nuits. Today, Domaine Dujac remains a family business, with Jacques’ son Jeremy and his wife Diana taking the reins, ensuring the estate’s legacy continues with the same dedication to quality. The winery is known for its commitment to biodynamic practices and minimal intervention winemaking, allowing the pure expression of the terroir to shine through in every bottle.
