THE ROYAL BEGINNING
In 1876, Tsar Alexander II of Russia requested a special Champagne from Louis Roederer — one that reflected both his taste and his status. The result was Cristal, presented in a clear glass bottle with a flat base, wrapped in gold cellophane to protect it from light. This design, still iconic today, set Cristal apart from the start.
HOW CRISTAL IS MADE
Cristal is produced only in exceptional vintages from Grand Cru vineyards in the Montagne de Reims, Vallée de la Marne, and Côte des Blancs. With extended ageing — a minimum of six years on lees — the result is a Champagne of remarkable depth, purity, and finesse.
