Allow us to present 'AI:01 Intelligens Swedish Single Malt Whisky', the world’s first whisky created by Artificial Intelligence used to augment and automate the most time-consuming process of whisky creation.

The idea for AI-created whisky began with a meeting with Microsoft, in which the future of whisky was being discussed. Inspired by the idea, Microsoft partner Fourkind was brought in to develop the solution. Working closely with Mackmyra's acclaimed Master Blender Angela D’Orazio, Fourkind created its AI solution using Microsoft Azure, providing it with the datasets (Mackmyra’s award-winning blend recipes) it needed to begin generating its very own recipes. Master Blender Angela D’Orazio, used her knowledge to determine which recipe ingredients would work well together while correcting other less desirable combinations. As this process was repeated, the AI algorithm began to learn which combinations were the most favourable and produce better recipe combinations. These recipes became the Intelligens series. 

With this dataset, the AI can generate more than 70 million recipes that it predicted would be popular and of the highest quality. The result is AI:01 Intelligens Swedish Single Malt Whisky, an elegant Swedish whisky with golden yellow colour. A fruity whisky with notes of toffee, creamy vanilla, pear, apples, white pepper and a light tone of toasted oak casks. The casks used for the first release included a combination of 30,100 and 200 litre barrels from Bourbon, American oak and Swedish Oak barrels.

Breaking news: After a remarkable 25-year journey, Mackmyra’s dream has come to an end, filing for bankruptcy on the 19th August, 2024. While the distillery never fully transitioned from cult favourite to mainstream global brand, it’s precisely this uniqueness that makes their final creations so special.
