The domain farms 1.1 ha in this subsection of Fourchaume which is located towards the northern part of Fourchaume, a top Premier Cru vineyard noted for growing on similar contours as the Grand Crus above the right bank of the Serein. Pierrick's vines average 25 years with some up to 35 years old. This wine is vinified with indigenous yeast with a very long slow alcoholic fermentation of 2-3 months. The wine is aged in stainless steel for 60% and in aged barrels for 40% with bottling in spring for a total elevage of 18 months giving a wine of excellent complexity and depth.

Fourchaume has a special place in heart of Chablis wine lovers. L’Homme Mort is visible only from the far end of the flag-bearing Climat Fourchaume. It is one of the largest and, above all, the northernmost Climat of the right bank, with a west and southwest exposure. These wines are Complex and intense, distinguised by its finesse and notably voluptuous quality. A naturally generous and open wine in its early years, really coming into their own after 6 or 7 years.

A mix of tank and barrel – 60% tank. Protected by aspersion here. Direct, floral, beautifully precise – that’s super! Hmm, so melting and silky, just a gorgeous wine here finishing more linear and always completely delicious – that’s a great 2022!

      Domaine des Hâtes

Pierrick Laroche, the proud owner of Domaine des Hâtes, continues the legacy of his family's estate located in the picturesque village of Maligny, in the north-west sector of Chablis. The name of Pierrick's Domaine, "hâtes" refers to an old agricultural unit of measure, similar to the English rod. It evokes the long and slender fields used for sowing, where the longer rows made plowing easier with fewer turns. The term "hâtes" was often used to describe such fields.

Established by his father in the 1970s, Pierrick's family vineyard holdings have gradually expanded over time, resulting in the current size of around 33 hectares. After obtaining a degree in oenology from Beaune, Pierrick embarked on a journey to gain valuable experience by traveling the world and undertaking various internships. Armed with knowledge and a deep passion for winemaking, he returned home to take over the family vineyards and start producing his own wines.
