The 2019 release marks just the second straight Cabernet Sauvignon bottling from Yeringberg's 1999 plantings, making this a highly exclusive wine.

Awarded 97 points by Jane Faulkner of the Halliday Wine Companion, she describes it as "a composed and classy Cabernet." The bouquet is intense yet restrained, with cool, amaro-like herbal hints supporting an array of berry fruits and plum. Iodine notes elevate the intensity, while the palate offers a bright and decidedly medium-bodied experience. With deep concentration and impressive length, this is a Cabernet built to last—cellaring will only enhance its character.

While this has the exuberance of youth, it is also a composed and classy cabernet. A harmonious blend of mulberries and plums, cedary oak, cigar box and a touch of iodine. The palate is detailed from the ultrafine tannins, the brightness of the acidity to its impressive length. Elegance in a glass.

      — Jane Faulkner, Wine Companion, 97 Points.

Deep, bright red/purple colour. The bouquet is rich and concentrated with a trace of eucalyptus or menthol overlying deep-set dark-berry and herb aromas, the oak neatly harmonised. The palate is firm and solidly structured, with real concentration and length. A powerful, deep, dense cabernet that needs time and will be in for the long-haul. (The second release of straight cabernet off the 1999 plantings).

      — Huon Hooke, The Real Review, 95 Points.

      Philosophy | Yeringberg

Yeringberg’s philosophy revolves around producing wines that capture the true essence of the Yarra Valley, known for its fine terroir and distinctive varietal character. The de Pury family, as pioneers in the region, is renowned for creating wines that showcase finesse, elegance, and balance, with a particular focus on maintaining the integrity of the region’s oldest vines. Yeringberg’s wines are crafted in small quantities, ensuring the highest quality and expression of the valley’s natural richness.

The red wines from Yeringberg, especially in riper years, show a velvety richness that speaks to the generosity of the land, while still respecting the varietal character. These wines are crafted with great care and attention to detail, resulting in long-lived, complex wines that are true to the estate’s legacy. Every bottle from Yeringberg is a testament to the family’s commitment to excellence and their deep-rooted connection to the Yarra Valley’s exceptional terroir.
