      The Farr Rising Geelong Pinot Noir 2023 is a stunning expression of Nick Farr’s winemaking vision, crafted from a single block of the Farr Rising vineyard in Geelong. Planted in 2001 with a mix of rootstocks and three carefully selected clones (MV6, 114, and 115), the vineyard sits on a north-facing slope with a unique combination of grey sandy loam, ironstone pebbles, and volcanic soils over limestone. This perfect terroir results in Pinot Noir fruit with softness and minerality, paired with depth and structure that only grows stronger over time. Hand-harvested and sorted in the vineyard, the wine is fermented in an open-top fermenter, with a portion of whole bunches retained for fermentation, and then aged in a mix of new and seasoned Allier barrels for 18 months. The result is a Pinot Noir that balances fruit purity with savoury complexity, offering a truly remarkable example of the Farr family’s house style.
