TattyBogler Pinot Noir 2015
TattyBogler Pinot Noir 2015 is a beautiful red wine from Bannockburn, in the Central Otago region of New Zealand. Otago's early Scottish settlers used scarecrows or "tattyboglers" as they called them, to protect precious crops from the hungry and unfamiliar New Zealand birdlife. Today, that success is celebrated in the raffish image of this wine, whose TattyBogler spirit still guards the vineyards of the region.
Nestled close to the town of Cromwell is the tortured, yet beautiful landscape of Bannockburn. "Hear of the Desert"; created by miners' slucings during the Otago gold rush. The sun-drenched, north-facing vineyard terrace is nestled at the head of the Bannockburn inlet of Lake Dunstan. The old river gravel soils, rich in glacial loess deposits, provide the perfect setting for these distinctive and intense wines.
