The 2011 Chardonnay fits handsomely into the line-up of Mount Mary Chardonnays. There are typical aromas of oatmeal, honey and grapefruit combined with white peach and citrus, reflective of the cooler growing season. The palate is long and lean with a great balance between acid, phenolics and lees derived characters. Flavours of citrus and grapefruit are at the forefront with some soft cheese and pastry nuances adding complexity. The oak is present but plays a supporting role only. The Mount Mary Chardonnay 2011 is terrifically approachable now but will cellar beautifully for 10-15 years.
