Benjamin Leroux Gevrey-Chambertin 2016
Benjamin Leroux Gevrey-Chambertin 2016 hails from 50 year old vines of Les Seuvrées (bordering Morey and 50% of the blend), the northern limestone-rich La Justice, and old vines in Le Fourneau - in the centre of the appellation. Each parcel is vinified separately before blending. There was minimal whole bunch here, and, unlike previous years, the wine was aged two-thirds in tank and the remainder in a "beautiful" 35 hl foudre. There is super class and finesse on offer here. So silky and elegant and juicy. Leroux really has refined this appellation in terms of the purity and prettiness he is delivering from Gevrey. Off the charts delicious.
