Amisfield Pinot Noir Rosé 2023
Set against the backdrop of the majestic Pisa mountain range, Amisfield is one of the largest single estate vineyards in Central Otago. Spurred on by fond memories of childhood holidays in Central Otago, Amisfield founder John Darby was determined to master this breathtaking yet often unforgiving high country, convinced that this dramatic landscape presented the perfect environment for cool-climate viticulture.
Estate grown Pinot Noir was cold-soaked for approximately 4 hours before pressing the brightly coloured juice off the grape skins. The juice was fermented cool using selected aromatic yeast. The wine then sat on fine lees before being bottled early to capture aromatics and vibrancy.
Vibrant fresh summer berries pop out of the glass. With a palate full of strawberry, pomegranate and watermelon characters, juicy acidity is balanced well with intensity of flavour. The finish is zesty, long lasting and dry.
Fabulous natural hues of red, pink and peach - leading to aromas and flavours of raspberry and red cherry, roses and a chalky mineral quality. Crisp, fruity, refreshing and dry with a fine chalky tannin mouthfeel, refreshing and salivating acidity with core fruit flavours finishing with a red apple bite. Perfect for summer 2023 and 2024. - Cameron Douglas MS
