This feels quite precocious on the nose with red cherries, kirsch and blood orange aromas, the oak nicely integrated. The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannins, fine acidity, just a touch of sour cherry towards the granular finish. Virgile’s father and grand-father had always produced wine and sold it to negotiants until Virgile started working with his father in the early 1990’s and he decided to sell the wines himself. Now with almost 20 vintages of experience Virgile has moved the domaine to fully organic viticulture and is producing what many believe to be the best wines of this prestigious village.

2020 was warm and dry with next to no disease pressure, resulting in deep, rich wines of great finesse and class. Just 3 barrels produced yielding one of the most perfumed and seductive Burgundies imaginable with super-fine tannins showing impressive old vine depth and intensity. This wine exemplifies Virgile’s deft hand at allowing quite a powerful site to express itself with great finesse. Burgundy guru Allen Meadows says it best below: “exuberantly pinot-like aromas”. It’s difficult to talk ‘value’ when it comes to Burgundy these days but in 2020 Aux Murgers punches well above its weight.

Exuberantly pinot-like aromas include those of both red and blue fruit, earth and a whisper of the sauvage along with background floral and spice hints. Once again, there is a highly attractive texture to the solidly concentrated and intense flavors that are at once robust yet sleek, all wrapped in a powerful and very firm finish; indeed it is presently almost strict. This is definitely not fashioned for early consumption and while there is excellent potential, it is expressly built for extended keeping. - Burghound.com January 2022, 91-94 Points

The Finer Details
Style - Red Wine
Varietal - Pinot Noir
Country - France
Region - Burgundy
Vintage - 2020
Bottle Size - 750ml
ABV - 13.2%
Other - Organic, Vegan Friendly
Closure - Cork

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0043/9258/3217/products/domaine-lignier-michelot-nuits-saint-georges-1er-cru-aux-murgers.png?v=1665111968
domaine-lignier-michelot-morey-saint-denis-en-lau-rue-de-vergy-2022
Domaine Lignier-Michelot Morey Saint Denis En Lau Rue de Vergy 2022

Product Description:

The Domaine Lignier-Michelot Morey Saint Denis En Lau Rue de Vergy 2022 is a stunning representation of one of Burgundy’s most revered villages, crafted with meticulous care by Virgile Lignier.
